Am I eligible for Premium HSA?
You are eligible if you have income related to self-employment, a small business with 2-50 employees, or 1099 based work. This is due to government requirements for establishing an HSA account. If your employment status does not meet these guidelines it may be flagged during an IRS audit but sharing requests you submit to MPB Health will never be rejected due to your employment status. It should be noted that any income, regardless of amount, qualifies so now could be a good time to start that pet rock business and sell one to your neighbor (as long as you report the income on your tax return).
What documentation is required to enroll?
You will need to provide either your businesses EIN number or your social security number, whichever one you use to file your federal taxes.
Is an HSA account provided?
No. While the Premium HSA plan qualifies you to have an HSA account for you and your family members, you will be responsible for creating your own account and managing contributions and withdrawals. Smart Share recommends Lively as an easy to use service provider. Smart Share is not affiliated with, or have any monetary relationship with, Lively.
Is my monthly premium tax deductible?
No. Health share memberships are not insurance and therefore not eligible for a tax deduction
