MPB Health Plans

How to enroll in MPB Health

From getting a quote to your first month of membership, here's what the enrollment process looks like.

Enrolling in MPB Health is a simple, self-service process. There’s no open enrollment window to wait for so you can start the process anytime. Here’s what happens from your first quote to your first day of membership.

Step 1: Get a Quote

Start with the plan comparison and pricing tool. You’ll enter your home state, age (or the age of the oldest member on the plan), household size, and whether anyone on the plan uses tobacco products. Select ‘Yes’ for the ‘Small Business or 1099 Income’ filter if you want to see plans that include MEC preventive services and HSA eligibility. See our MEC and HSA eligibility guide for more information on this income requirement. The tool returns pricing across MPB Health’s available plans immediately. There’s no need to submit a request or talk to anyone just to see numbers.

Step 2: Compare Plans

With pricing in front of you, match what each plan includes against the coverage you are looking for. Click on the Details button from each plan description to get more details on the plan or see our plans and pricing guide for comparison info. If you’re still unsure which plan fits your situation, contact a Smart Share advisor.

Step 3: Choose Your IUA

Select your Initial Unshareable Amount. This is the per-incident amount you’re responsible for before medical cost sharing kicks in. A higher IUA lowers your monthly contribution; a lower IUA raises it. The pricing tool updates in real time as you adjust this so it’s easy to see the trade-off.

Step 4: Enroll

Select ‘Enroll’ and then enter your information along with any dependents’ information (e.g. name, ages, contact info, etc.). You will be asked to select an IUA amount at this point.

Step 5: Fill Out the Questionnaire

This is the step worth slowing down for. You’ll be asked to disclose your health history, including any diagnoses, treatment, medications, and — importantly — symptoms you’ve experienced in the past 24 months. Be thorough and accurate here. Health share organizations such as MPB Health routinely access your medical records to validate there were no pre-existing conditions when you file a sharing request. Even symptoms mentioned to a doctor during the 2 year lookback period will be accessible. As covered in our reviews roundup, disputes over what counts as a pre-existing condition are the most common source of member complaints across health sharing organizations in general. An accurate, complete disclosure at enrollment is your best protection if a determination is ever questioned later.

Step 6: Set Up Payment and Submit Your Application

You’ll set up your monthly contribution payment method via a credit card or ACH bank draft. All memberships start on the first of the month. You can select the start of the next month as your start date or delay your start date for up to 2 months. Click on ‘Submit Enrollment’ and you are all set!

Step 7: Receive Your Membership Materials

Once enrolled, you’ll get access to your member portal and mobile app, which is where you’ll submit sharing requests, contact the concierge team, and access other plan benefits. You’ll also find a copy of your plan benefits guide via the portal. It’s the governing reference for what’s eligible, what’s excluded, and how disputes are handled.

What to Do Right After You Enroll

A few things worth doing in your first week of membership, before you need to use the plan:

  1. Read your plan’s guidelines in full if you didn’t already before signing up.
  2. Save the concierge team’s contact information so you’re not searching for it during an urgent situation.
  3. Set up your member portal or app login and confirm you can access it before you need to submit a sharing request.
  4. Check your prescription savings benefit, if your plan includes one, before your next pharmacy visit.

Bottom Line

Enrolling in MPB Health is a straightforward, self-service process — get a quote, compare plans, choose your IUA, and complete your application — with one step that deserves real care: your health history disclosure. Getting that right at the start is the single biggest thing within your control to avoid a dispute over a large claim later.
