Privacy Policy
Effective Date: 7/2/2026 Last Updated: 7/2/2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Smart Share (“we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information in connection with your use of www.smartshare.health (the “Site”), including our AI-powered chat feature (the “Chat Assistant”) that helps you identify health share plans that may match your needs.
Please read this policy carefully. By using the Site, you agree to the practices described here.
1. Who We Are and What We Do
Smart Share operates the Site to help individuals compare and select health share plans (also known as health care sharing ministry plans or medical cost-sharing plans). Health share plans are not insurance and are not regulated as insurance in most states. The Site provides educational and comparison tools, including an AI Chat Assistant, to help you evaluate options. We do not provide medical advice, and nothing on the Site or in the Chat Assistant should be treated as medical or legal advice.
2. Information We Collect
a. Information You Provide Directly
When you use our plan matching tools or contact form, you may provide information such as:
- Age, state of residence, household size
- Tobacco use
- Small Business Income
- Budget or coverage preferences
- Contact information (if you request follow-up, such as name and email)
b. Information You Provide to the Chat Assistant
The Chat Assistant is designed to ask only for non-medical information needed to narrow down plan options (e.g., general preferences, budget, household details). The Chat Assistant does not ask you for medical or health information.
However, if you voluntarily type medical, health, or diagnosis-related information into the chat — for example, mentioning a pre-existing condition — the Chat Assistant may use that information to inform its recommendations during your session. We strongly encourage you not to share more medical detail than you’re comfortable with; the Chat Assistant can generally still provide useful guidance without it.
c. Automatically Collected Information
Like most websites, our servers may automatically log basic technical information when you visit, such as IP address, browser type, device type, and general usage data (e.g., pages visited). This is used only for security, troubleshooting, and understanding aggregate site usage — not to build individual profiles. The Site uses Google Analytics to obtain information on number of users, number of pages views, etc.
d. What We Do NOT Collect
We do not require you to create an account, and we do not knowingly collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, or financial account information through the Chat Assistant.
3. No Storage or Retention of Chat and Contact Data
We do not store the substance of your conversations with the Chat Assistant or your personal information provided when scheduling a call or sending an email.
- Information you enter is processed transiently, in real time, solely to generate your plan recommendations during your active session.
- Once your session ends (or after a short technical timeout), that input is not retained by us in any searchable, retrievable, or identifiable form.
- We do not build user profiles, behavioral histories, or health records from your chat info.
- If you voluntarily provide contact information to request a follow-up, that information is used only to fulfill your specific request (such as sending a one-time email) and is not entered into a customer relationship management (CRM) system, marketing database, or any other persistent record-keeping system.
4. Sensitive Health Information — Special Handling
We treat any health-related information you choose to share with the Chat Assistant with heightened care:
- It is used only to help generate your plan recommendations in that session.
- It is not stored by us after your session ends.
- It is not sold, rented, or used for advertising or marketing purposes.
- It is not shared with health share plan providers, brokers, or any third party without your explicit action (for example, if you click through to enroll for a plan).
If you choose to proceed to enrollment with a plan provider through a link on our Site, any information you provide to that provider is governed by their privacy policy, not this one. We encourage you to review it separately.
5. How We Use Information
We use the limited information described above to:
- Generate real-time health share plan recommendations
- Operate, maintain, and secure the Site
- Respond to inquiries you submit
- Understand aggregate, non-identifying usage trends to improve the Site
We do not use your information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects about you, and any plan “matches” are informational suggestions, not binding determinations.
6. Third-Party Service Providers
The Chat Assistant is powered by SiteGPT, a third-party artificial intelligence provider. To generate a response, the text you enter is transmitted to SiteGPT’s systems for processing. SiteGPT may briefly process this data on their infrastructure in order to return a response to you, subject to their own data handling terms. We select providers that contractually restrict them from using your inputs to train their models or retain them beyond what’s needed to deliver the service, but we encourage you to review SiteGPT’s own privacy policy at https://sitegpt.ai/security for details on their processing.
We may also use standard infrastructure providers (e.g., web hosting, content delivery, basic security tools) that process technical data as described in Section 2(c).
We do not sell your personal information.
7. Cookies and Tracking
The Site uses only essential cookies necessary for basic functionality and security. The cookie remembers information you input into our plan selection form. If you close your browser mid-session or reboot your device, your entered text is saved. This prevents you from having to re-type your information when you return to the page. This cookie remains on your device for 90 days or until you manually clear your browser cache and cookies. Because this cookie operates strictly to fulfill your user experience preference, it does not require prior consent via a banner. However, you can disable it at any time through your browser’s privacy settings.
We do not use the Chat Assistant’s contents for advertising or cross-site tracking.
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative and technical safeguards designed to protect information in transit and during the brief period it is processed. However, no method of transmission or processing is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. State Privacy Law Notices
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under state privacy laws, including but not limited to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), Washington’s My Health My Data Act, and similar laws in other states.
Important note on “collection”: Some state laws (notably Washington’s My Health My Data Act) define “collecting” data broadly to include processing information even briefly, not just long-term storage. Because our Chat Assistant may process health-related information you voluntarily provide — even without saving it — some of these laws may still apply to that momentary processing. Where applicable, we:
- Do not use voluntarily-shared health information for any purpose beyond generating your immediate plan recommendation
- Do not sell or share this information for targeted advertising
- Will honor applicable consumer rights requests (see Section 10) to the extent we hold any retained data (e.g., contact-form submissions)
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have the right to:
- Request access to personal information we hold about you (note: because we do not retain chat content, there is typically nothing to provide beyond any contact-form data)
- Request deletion of any retained contact information
- Opt out of marketing communications
- Request a copy of this policy in an accessible format
To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 13.
11. Children’s Privacy
The Site is not directed to individuals under 18, and we do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided information to us, please contact us so we can address it.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be posted on this page, and where required by law, we will provide additional notice.
